Vancouver, Canada : 21-year-old Ashab Irfan secured his first-ever PSA World Tour title at the Richardson Wealth Men’s Vancouver Open 2025, defeating England’s Sam Todd in a commanding straight-sets final.

Seeded fourth in the tournament, Ashab displayed remarkable control and aggression to outplay the sixth-seeded Todd with a decisive 3-0 (11-9, 11-1, 11-5) win in just 43 minutes. His relentless pace, pinpoint accuracy, and strategic brilliance left the Englishman unable to mount a comeback, earning Ashab the $31,250 Copper-level PSA title—the biggest triumph of his budding career.

The tournament, part of the PSA World Tour, featured a competitive 24-player international draw, attracting top talent from around the globe. Ashab’s victory not only cements his status as a rising star but also injects new hope into Pakistan’s storied squash heritage, once dominated by legends like Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan.

Fellow Pakistani and third seed Noor Zaman also made a notable run in the tournament but narrowly exited in the quarterfinals after a hard-fought 2-3 loss to Sam Todd.

Ashab Irfan’s breakthrough win is being celebrated back home as a turning point for Pakistan’s next generation of squash talent. With this milestone, he becomes part of a promising new wave of players determined to restore the nation’s former squash glory on the international stage.
