Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi killed amid clashes in Gaza city

Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi, 28, was shot and killed during armed clashes in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood on Sunday, just days after a ceasefire was announced between Israel and Hamas.
According to Palestinian sources speaking to Al Jazeera Arabic, Aljafarawi was fatally shot by members of an “armed militia” while covering ongoing violence in the area. Footage verified by Al Jazeera’s Sanad verification agency showed his body clad in a “PRESS” flak jacket on the back of a truck. He had been reported missing earlier that morning.
Aljafarawi had gained recognition for his video reports documenting the war in Gaza, becoming a notable voice amid the conflict.
Clashes reportedly erupted between Hamas security forces and fighters from the Doghmush clan, though this has not been officially confirmed. A senior source from Gaza’s Ministry of Interior told Al Jazeera that the group involved was “an armed militia affiliated with the [Israeli] occupation,” and that they had attacked displaced Palestinians returning to Gaza City from the south.
Despite the recent ceasefire, authorities warn that the security situation in Gaza remains volatile, with internal unrest and power struggles continuing to put civilians and journalists at risk.
Aljafarawi is the latest journalist to be killed in Gaza, where media workers have faced mounting dangers throughout the conflict.
