PM Shehbaz calls Malaysia Pakistan's "second home", seeking for stronger ties.

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister of Pakistan and Malaysian counter part have signed a series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation across various sectors. The signing ceremony was followed by a joint press conference held by PM Shehbaz and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the long-standing brotherly ties between the two nations, dating back to 1957. “Our relations have only grown stronger over time,” he stated, adding, “We must enhance cooperation in all areas including trade, education, investment, and defense.”

Addressing regional peace and stability, Prime Minister Anwar stressed the importance of improved Pakistan-India relations for the benefit of the entire South Asian region. Expressing deep sorrow over the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, he said, “We stand united in raising our voice for the Palestinian people and hope for an end to their suffering.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Malaysia as “Pakistan’s second home,” and praised Anwar Ibrahim’s visionary leadership in transforming Malaysia into a developed nation. “We are keen to benefit from his experience through joint ventures,” he said.

He highlighted the presence of a significant number of Pakistani students studying in Malaysia, describing it as a testament to the strong educational ties between the two countries. The Prime Minister welcomed Malaysia’s decision to import halal meat worth $200 million from Pakistan, stating, “We aim to expand this trade further.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz also lauded Anwar Ibrahim’s book “The Script”, calling it “a source of wisdom and insight that offers valuable guidance on leadership and governance.”

Earlier, PM Shehbaz received a guard of honor and a warm welcome by PM Ibrahim, as he arrived at the venue of the official reception, kicking off his three-day visit to Malaysia.

The national anthems of Pakistan and Malaysia were played as the both the leaders stood at the salute dais.

Later, the two leaders introduced their respective delegations to each other before proceeding for the one-on-one meeting and the delegation level talks to review Pakistan-Malaysia bilateral ties and explore new areas of collaboration in multiple sectors.

This high-level engagement signals not only a reaffirmation of the existing relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia but also a clear intent to build a closer strategic partnership in the future.
