JERUSALEM: US President Donald Trump addressed the Israeli Parliament on Monday, calling it the beginning of a new historic era for the Middle East.

In his address to the Knesset, President Trump said the moment marked an extraordinary achievement for both Israel and the world.

He emphasized the need to transform military victories against terrorism into lasting peace and prosperity for the entire Middle East.

“The time has come,” Trump said, “to turn our battlefield successes against terrorists into the ultimate reward of peace and progress for the region.”

The US President also extended a message to Iran, saying that the hand of friendship and cooperation remains open. “Despite all challenges,” he added, “we have made the impossible possible — we brought our hostages home.”

Eearlier, U.S. President Donald Trump declared  that he would make efforts to end what he described as an ongoing war between Pakistan and Afghanistan, adding that he plans to revisit the issue after his current trip to the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters before departing for a peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, Trump said, “I’m aware there’s a war going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I’ll have to look into it once I return. I’ll make another attempt because I’m an expert at resolving wars.”

Trump also claimed credit for having previously de-escalated tensions between Pakistan and India, stating that he used economic pressure and tariffs to bring the two nuclear neighbors back from the brink. While no active war currently exists between Pakistan and Afghanistan, sporadic border clashes and tensions have persisted for years.
