Salman Ali Agha set to lead Pakistan in T20s against South Africa

Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly backed Salman Ali Agha to continue as the captain of the national T20 squad, signaling its confidence in his leadership ahead of the crucial upcoming home series against South Africa.
As preparations intensify for the ICC T20 World Cup, sources close to the matter confirm that strategic discussions have taken place between Salman and Head Coach Mike Hesson. Both are aligned in their vision to solidify the team’s core, with a focus on consistency and performance in the lead-up to the global event.
“The leadership is fully backing Salman Ali Agha to steer the T20 side. The immediate focus is the series against South Africa, which is a crucial step towards building a formidable squad for the T20 World Cup,“ a source familiar with the ongoing planning revealed.
Team management is also expected to convene with the national selection committee in the coming days to finalize key decisions. Furthermore, a white-ball training camp is likely to be launched during the concurrent Test series against South Africa, allowing the limited-overs squad to begin early preparations. The list of probables for this camp is expected to be announced soon.
The PCB’s approach reflects a renewed emphasis on long-term planning, stability in leadership, and optimal use of preparation windows all aimed at ensuring Pakistan enters the T20 World Cup with a well-balanced and battle-ready unit.
