Shahid Afridi labeled Afghans as Ungrateful

The reverberations of recent border hostilities have provoked a stunning public censure from former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi, who has unequivocally accused Afghanistan of “ingratitude.”

His address on the social media platform ‘X’ was less a statement and more a poignant lament, articulating a crushing disillusionment with the tragic fracturing of a decades-long kinship.

Shahid Afridi proceeded with an uncompromising inventory of Pakistan’s profound sacrifices, emphasizing the nation’s unwavering role as a guardian who fully embraced and internalized the suffering of its Afghan “brothers.”

This support was defined by an historic, unparalleled humanitarian act: Pakistan opened its borders, providing sanctuary to an estimated four million Afghan refugees.

The former star even personalized the betrayal, revealing his own ongoing charitable work: “I personally look after 350 Afghan families with my own resources.” He then stated, with deep regret, that Afghanistan’s recent actions have amounted to a “forgetting of all these favours.”

Shahid Afridi condemned the “open aggression” witnessed at the border, which was forcefully countered by the Pakistan Army.

He concluded with a sharp, politically charged warning:

The final plea was direct: “Afghanistan must realize that Pakistan is its brotherly Islamic country.” He issued a stern caution, warning them against being manipulated into serving the interests of any state that is simultaneously supporting terrorists inside Pakistan, thereby suggesting Afghanistan had become an unwitting tool against its closest ally.

His message serves as a final, bitter plea for a return to neighborly trust.
