Pakistan’s batting star, Babar Azam, cemented his legacy in cricket history by surpassing former Indian captain Rohit Sharma to claim the world record for the most runs in T20 Internationals (T20I).

He achieved this career-defining milestone in Lahore during the second T20 match of the home series against South Africa.

Babar, who only needed 9 runs to break the record, did so with his characteristic composure, further solidifying his status as one of the format’s premier batsmen.

This achievement marks a strong return for Babar, who was brought back into the T20 squad for the South Africa series after a brief absence following Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 performance.
