LAHORE: The Election Tribunal has dismissed the election petition filed against the victory of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Justice Rana Zahid Mehmood of the Lahore Election Tribunal announced the verdict on the petition submitted by Mehr Sharafat Ali from PP-159.

According to the tribunal, the petition did not fulfill the requirements of Rule 144 of the Election Act 2017, as it lacked signatures on every page.

The tribunal further noted that the affidavit was incomplete, as the page bearing the Oath Commissioner’s verification did not include the petitioner’s name and father’s name, making the petition inadmissible for formal trial.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Tehreak e Insaf(PTI) candidate Mehr Sharafat Ali had challenged Maryam Nawaz’s electoral victory in PP-159.
