weather alerts
Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory for Karachi, noting a significant increase in air pollution today.
The particulate matter concentration in the air has reached 162 micrograms per cubic meter, indicating hazardous air quality.
The city is expected to remain hot throughout the day, with temperatures potentially reaching 36°C.
Humidity levels are currently at 87%, but a drop in humidity is forecasted by the evening, leading to dry conditions.
The northeast dry winds have weakened, adding to the city’s overall weather changes.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PMD has forecasted rain and snowfall for the next two days, prompting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to issue an alert across the province.
Intermittent rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected in various districts, with snowfall in higher elevations possibly causing road blockages.
The PDMA has also warned of landslides in regions such as Abbottabad, Dir, Swat, Chitral, and Kohistan.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in cities including Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan, which may cause damage to weak structures, power lines, and signboards.
The PDMA has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, while district administrations have been instructed to improve drainage systems.
Travelers and tourists have been advised to avoid non-essential travel, particularly in areas prone to severe weather conditions.
