Sajid Hussain Turi, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD), stated on Tuesday that the global demand for Pakistani workers is increasing.

The minister stated during a ceremony where a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Poly Technical Institute Gilgit-Baltistan and Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) that the main purpose of such MoUs was to extend skills-based training to people in the country’s backward areas.

Sajid Hussain Turi stated that foreign employment opportunities would be available to youth from all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

He stated that the OEC would train people to meet the demands of the international labour market.

To discourage illegal migrants, the minister stated that Pakistan would send over 5,000 workers to Iraq via OEC and Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs).
