Young people and children play a significant role in the development of any country. Pakistan is one of the countries in the world whose children have made the country known in many fields including IT, education, sports, science and technology. But in Pakistan still a large number of children are seen working in hotels, factories, mechanic shops, are deprived from education due to poverty and other reasons.

There are a large number of children under the age of 14 in Pakistan. Despite passing the law, it has not been implemented.

According to Article (3) 11 of the Constitution, a child under the age of 14 cannot work in any factory or as mining labor or any kind of perilous work. It is the state’s responsibility to provide free and compulsory education to every child between the ages of 5 and 16. According to Article 37 (C), the state has an obligation to provide a safe environment for work and will take effective measures to ensure the safety and security of women and children.

Child labor laws in Pakistan are limited to being on paperwork but are not implemented. Poverty is the main cause of child labor, social worker Sarim Burney stated.

In Pakistan, many bills have been passed at the government level to abolish child labor, including the Shops and Establishment Ordinance 1969, the Employment of Children Act 1991, the Bonded Labor System Abolishment Act 1992, the Punjab Compulsory Education Act 1994, the Employment of Children’s Rules 1995 and other laws.
