Maryam Nawaz sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand by AC

Lohore accountability court (AC) has sent Mary Nawaz and Yusuf Abbas to jail on judicial remand In the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. The court has also ordered to re-appear the accused on October 9.

According to details, Maryam Nawaz and Yusuf Abbas were appeared before the accountability court in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, NAB authorities requested physical remand.

A large number of PML-N workers came to the court to express solidarity with Maryam Nawaz and also chanted slogans.

Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case on8 August.

PML-N has demanded that Maryam Nawaz’s residence should be declared a sub-jail, as the NAB has declared Faryal Talpur’s Islamabad house as a sub-jail.

NAB summoned Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhri Sugar Mills case. Chaudray sugar mill’s shares were transferred in 2008 to Maryam Nawaz, who later transferred some seven million of them to Abbas in 2010.

Maryam Nawaz has been arrested on her way back to Kot Lakhpat Jail after meeting her incarcerated father Nawaz Sharif.

Yousaf Abbas, who is a cousin of Maryam Nawaz, has also been arrested owing to his connections to the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case and both will appear before the Accountability Court in Lahore today

She was questioned about the “suspicious” transactions related to the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) of which Maryam was one of the largest shareholders. Sources reveal that the three-member investigation team questioned her about the remittances present in her account, considering her shares in CSM.
