PM annoyed with police’s performance, summons CM Punjab

Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned the Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman buzdar to Islamabad, as per sources Imran Khan is annoyed with the performance of the Punjab police.

According to the details, the Chief Minister met with the Prime Minister and will inform him about the police reforms and give him a briefing.

The Prime Minister expressed his annoyance and concerns over the incidents of police torture in Punjab.

According to reports, the Chief Minister has arrived in Islamabad from Lahore, where he had a one-on-one meeting with the Prime Minister, during which he discussed reforms in the Punjab police system.

It is pertinent to mention that at least 17 people have died in the torture of Punjab police during last eight months. Cases have been registered against 84 police officers and police personnel.

A few days ago the viral ATM thief, identified from a widely circulating CCTV video showing him sticking his tongue out at the camera, died in police custody.

Salahuddin, hailing from Gujranwala, was arrested from Rahim Yar Khan on Saturday.

Reports revealed that the suspect was already suffering from a health condition and was taken to the hospital as the illness worsened.

An inquiry into his death has also been ordered by the District Police Officer with the cause of his death to be announced following a post-mortem.

Salahuddin had garnered online attention after a video of him made rounds on the internet as he stole from an ATM machine in Faisalabad while sticking his tongue out at the camera during the process.

He was recognized a month later by security officials at an ATM in Rahim Yar Khan where he was attempting to repeat the criminal act.
