PM Imran meets Bill Gates, Memorandum of reconciliation signed

Prime Minister Imran Khan met Microsoft founder Bill Gates and a Memorandum of understanding was signed by both parties in the meeting held in New York.

According to details, The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairperson ‘Ehsas Program’ Dr Sania Nishtar and Bill Gates. The agreement, which was signed in the meeting, will help in eliminating poverty from the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, the amount of 20 crores will be spent on 134 poverty alleviation projects across the country, undertaken as part of the Ehsaas program 2020.

Prime Minister said that the Ehsaas Program is a big project in the history of Pakistan which will turn the country into a welfare state.

In August this year, Bill Gates wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan offering the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for eradicating poliomyelitis (polio) in Pakistan.

The billionaire philanthropist, in the letter dated August 16, 2019, pledged to continue working with the relevant authorities in Pakistan to eradicate polio virus from the country.

The Microsoft co-founder requested PM Khan to endorse the recommendations and implementation plan prepared following the management’s review.

The letter further stated that in June, a meeting was held with Sania Nishtar regarding the government’s poverty alleviation program.

Gates expressed willingness in devising long-term plans regarding the poverty alleviation program and establishing a Program Delivery Unit to help implement the Ehsaas Program’s financial inclusion, nutrition, and other development objectives.
