PM meets US envoy Khalilzad, Secretary General Amnesty International

Prime Minister Imran Khan held meetings with the US special envoy for Afghanistan, US senators and the Amnesty International secretary general Komi Naidoo, in New York.

US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad discussed various issues, including the Afghan peace process with the premier.

In a meeting with Amnesty International Secretary General Kumi Naidoo, Khan apprised him of the deteriorating human rights situation in India-occupied Kashmir.

The prime minister noted that even human rights organisations were not being given access to people in the occupied valley. He appreciated the role of Amnesty International in highlighting the situation in the disputed Himalayan territory.

On the other hand, US Senator Lindsey Graham also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss about the deteriorating situation in occupied Kashmir.

According to details, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Senator Graham discussed bilateral relations and the regional situation during the meeting.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi , Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and Pakistani diplomat Asad Majeed also attended the meeting.

PM Imran apprised Lindsey Graham about the deteriorating situation in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said that India’s lockdown in Kashmir has created a humanitarian crisis and posed a threat for regional stability.
