Karachi police arrested the suspect killers of a young bright student Misbah who was shot dead by Afghan immigrant garbage pickers during a street crime in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi, and also mobile phone stolen from the girl’s father, motorcycle and arms have been recovered.

Police carried out information based raids near Al-Asif Square and arrested two suspects. The arrested accused are involved in street crimes and they revealed details about an Afghan dacoit gang during interrogation.

Police have tracked down the actual accused involved in the murder through information gleaned from the suspects’ interrogation.

SSP East Ghulam Azfar Mehsar said during the press conference that the arrested suspect Mohammad Nabi is an Afghan street criminal, whose partner Qari Bashir Afghani is still escaped, police are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

According to police officials, the robbers who killed Hamdard University student Misbah Athar daughter of Athar Noor as she waited for her varsity shuttle in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on October 3, are affiliated with an Afghan gang and are residents of Sohrab Goth.

The gang has previously been involved in several street crimes, including robberies and burglaries in shopping centres and cafes.

DIG Farooq then appointed a five-member team, headed by the Investigation SSP and including the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi to investigate the murder.

The police team interrogated more than six eyewitnesses and over a dozen suspects in the investigation after acquiring footage from CCTV cameras in the surroundings and geo-fencing the site where the crime occurred.
