Farogh Naseem to reinstate as Minister of Law

Barrister Farogh Naseem, who resigned as Federal Minister for Law to represent Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa in the Supreme Court in a tenure extension case, will rejoin the federal cabinet.

According to sources, Froogh Naseem will take oath as the Federal Minister of Law on Friday, while President Arif Alawi will take oath from him.

Earlier today, Supreme Court of Pakistan has extended the tenure of Army Chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa for six months, on Thursday.

The top court in its short order announced that Gen Qamar Jawed Bajwa will remain the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for another six months, during which the parliament will legislate on the extension/reappointment of an army chief.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Bar Association restored the license of Farogh Naseem, who had on Tuesday stepped down as law minister in order to represent Gen Bajwa in the court.

Earlier, Federal Law Minister Faroogh Naseem has sent his resignation to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, November 26.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed confirmed the resignation of Frogh Naseem during a press conference in Islamabad, saying that Feroz Naseem will appear in the court as a lawyer of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Sheikh Rasheed said Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the resignation of Farogh Naseem.
