Female Pakistani journalist was shot dead allegedly by her husband on Monday.

According to a senior police officer Dost Mohammad, 27-year-old Urooj Iqbal was shot dead allegedly by her husband when she was entering her office in Qila Gujjar Singh in central Lahore on Monday. Her husband shot her in her head.

She was taken to the hospital after the incident but she could not survive.

Urooj Iqbal was a crime reporter and was working with Urdu daily. According to sources, her husband was demanding her to leave journalism.

Urooj was living in a room located near the newspaper office after things got worst.

Urooj Iqbal’s brother Yasir Iqbal informed that on his complaint, an FIR has been registered against her husband. Police has informed that they had gotten CCTV footage of the incident and had submitted it for forensic examination.

As mentioned in the FIR, Urooj Iqbal got married seven months ago, the relations deteriorated.

Yasir Iqbal informed that her husband kept demanding Urooj to quit journalism. He also tortured her. Complaint was also made against her husband before this incident.
