PEMRA bans media coverage of protests on Mall Road

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) imposed a ban on the coverage of protests and sit-ins at The Mall and also to inform all the television channels.

PEMRA has issued a notification to bar media coverage of protests on Mall Road.

Earlier on Friday the Lahore High Court (LHC) released interim written order in a case pertaining to protests and sit-ins at The Mall.

LHC judge Justice Jawad issued a 12-page written order summoned draft legislation regarding declaring red zone in the provincial capital on November 25.

The court directed Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to bar media coverage of protests and sit-ins at The Mall and also to inform all the television channels.

After the Indian jingoism in Kashmir and along LoC, PEMRA had also announced to ban Indian content as well as advertisements that are Indian and being broadcast in Pakistan or even those that feature any Indian actors and characters have been banned.
