Altaf Ibrahim takes oath as acting CEC

As Sardar Raza’s tenure ended on Thursday, Justice retired Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi has taken oath as the acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC)

Member KPK election commission, Irshad Qaiser administered the oath of the acting chief election commissioner in the Election Commission.

The parliamentary committee meeting to appoint a permanent chief commissioner will be held on December 9.

It is pertinent to remember, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (Retd) Sardar Raza has retired on December 6. After his retirement the election commission will become dysfunctional.

The government has already proposed three names for the post of new chief election commissioner.

The government’s nominees are incumbent ECP secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad, former federal secretaries Fazal Abbas Maiken and Arif Ahmad Khan.
