The protest of Teachers against the Sindh government turned violent as they shifted their demonstration to the Sindh Assembly.

The teachers had been protesting outside the Karachi Press Club for ten consecutive days but today on Friday they decided to shift their protest to the Sindh Assembly.

Police had blocked the way to the assembly by containers but one route was still open so the teachers continued their march to the assembly and tried to enter it.

Security officials closed the doors of the assembly, so the teachers staged a protest outside the assembly.

Several teachers were arrested by the police and taken to nearby police stations.

The teachers demanded to make their contract to be permanent as they were appointed on a contract basis in 2011, 2015 and 2016.

Earlier talks between teacher and education department have failed. According to teachers, they had been in talks with the education secretary but said the department was not willing to accept their main demand.
