The opposition leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has sent three names as recommendations for the designation of the chief election commissioner (CEC), as the retirement of chief election commissioner is around the corner.

Shehbaz Sharif mentioned the names of former bureaucrat Nasir Mahmood Khosa, retired civil servant Akhlaq Ahmed Tarar and former ambassador to US Jalil Abbas Jilani as recommendations for the post.

The incumbent retired CEC Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza will complete his tenure on December 6.

In the letter, it was written, “It is my earnest hope that the merit of these persons will be appreciated for urgent consideration under the law.” “Should you require any additional information/clarification, this can be made available forthwith.” The letter added.

The letter was sent to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat on 25 November, according to a PML (N) spokesperson.
