The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday ruled that The Sindh government (gov) cannot transfer a police officer without consultation with the Inspector General of Police.

According to the details, SHC nullified the transfer notifications of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Khadim Hussain Rind and Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Rizwan.

The SHC said in its remarks that both transfers illegal as official procedure was not followed.

The Sindh government (gov) cannot transfer police officials without consulting the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the court said.

Let it be known that the party who initiated the lawsuit before the court had taken the stance that the provincial government had transferred 80 police officers including the DIG and SP without informing the IGP, thus violating its own laws.

Its pertinent here to mention that the SHC had suspended the transfer notifications of both officials during the previous hearing and nullified them today.

Previously, the court had suspended the notification regarding removal of the DIG Establishment and SP Shikarpur from their posts.

The verdict comes at a time when the Sindh government and IGP Dr Kaleem Imam are at daggers drawn with the former having approached the federal government for removal of the latter from the post.

Earlier, on Jan 28, Prime Minister Imran Khan had changed his decision on the appointment of a new police chief in the province and asked Governor Imran Ismail to again sit with Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to resolve the issue.
