ML-I project will provide 100K jobs says Sheikh Rashid

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that ML-I from Peshawar to Karachi project will provide one hundred thousand jobs to youth of the country.

While addressing a news conference in Peshawar, Minister for Railways said that the present government will start work on laying Peshawar-Jalalabad railway track to boost trade activities with Afghanistan.

Earlier Pakistan Railways (PR) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ijaz Ahmed Abro, has termed 2019 as the year of revolution for the department.

Speaking at Pakistan Railways Headquarters, Ijaz Ahmed Abro revealed that no seat had gone vacant last year and 60% of Pakistan Railway Tickets in 2019 Were Booked Online.

The chief executive officer said that the previous year saw a record increase in online bookings as more than 60 percent of the seats were booked online and vowed to increase e-ticketing in 2020.

Earlier, Divisional Superintendent Railways Syed Munawar Shah said that “for the first time in the country’s history, Pakistan Railways (PR) has become a profit earning entity.

He appreciated the efforts of Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed for fulfilling his promise of making the department a profitable organization in a short span of time.

Federal Minister of Railways Sheikh Rasheed also requested the prime minister for an increase in the grades of all railway workers from grade one to 16.

“They will each be promoted a rank,”Federal Minister of Railways said.

“As soon as the court’s judgment comes out, all the temporary labour appointment employees be permanently appointed.”
