National Assembly approves army chief tenure extension bill

The Lower House of the Parliament National Assembly has passed amendment bill in Pakistan Army Act 1952 providing a legal cover to the tenure of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qajar Bajwa as earlier directed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The house also passed bill regarding amendments to Pakistan Air Force Act 1953 and Pakistan Navy Ordinance 1961.

The Session of the National Assembly held with the Speaker Asad Qaiser in the National Assembly, and also attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The bill supported by the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the main Opposition Parties Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
