Prime Minister commits to tackle profiteers, hoarders with iron hands

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Media and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan and Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed on Tuesday spoke to media about the cabinet meeting which was chaired Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Awan further stated that whosoever comes in the way of governments relief efforts for the people of Pakistan will be dealt with swiftly.

She also stated that the recent frictions between party members in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were resolved and the ministers of KP are now standing behind their captain.

She also added that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf lead government was firmly on the back of Chief Minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar.

According to the sources, Briefing media on cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said at the outset of the meeting the Prime Minister vowed to take every step to provide relief to the people who are facing the brunt of inflation.

Imran Khan also directed Ministry of National Food Security and related organizations take all out measures for supply of edible items to people. The Prime Minister said action will be taken against those responsible for recent flour crisis in the light of recommendations of investigative report.

The Special Assistant said the cabinet discussed the issue of appointment of new IG Sindh and it was decided to appoint a person for this top slot with consultation. Prime Minister directed Sindh Governor to hold consultation with provincial chief minister regarding names put forth for the appointment of IG Sindh.

She said the cabinet endorsed the decisions of its previous meeting. It gave approval to decision of reduction in urea rates to provide relief to the farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said the federal cabinet decided to recover money of undue expenditures from former Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari within a month. He said if they fail to submit the amount to government, legal action will be taken against them.

He said the previous governments burdened the country with huge debt as they plundered national wealth on their personal gains. He said a loan of 24,000 billion rupees was taken during the tenures of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and ex-President Asif Ali Zardari.
