Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has been summoned in court by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on February 13 (today) in Joint Venture (JV) Opal 255 case.

The court has directed Bilawal to bring records for Zardari Group for the years 2008 through 2019 as well as a list of the Board of Directors for the company.

According to sources, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari summoned to record his statement with regard to alleged transfer of over Rs1 billion from the accounts of JV Opal-225.

It was fourth time that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari summoned by the NAB in the same case for recording his statement.

He appeared before the NAB investigation team probing the fake bank accounts scam and summoned on December 24, 2019.

But, he did not appear as he had sought fresh dates.

JV Opal, set up in 2011 and had its office on a property in Karachi owned by the Zardari Group.

From 2011 to 2013, the company did not generate any revenue, yet it purchased major assets, agriculture lands, commercial and residential properties in Islamabad and Karachi, according to a joint investigation team (JIT) report.

However, two leading bars of the country have condemned the call-up notice issued to Bilawal by the (NAB).

They urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to shun political victimization of its opponents and focus on public welfare.

NAB is investigating fake accounts cases against Bilawal’s father and PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Zardari, and aunt, Faryal Talpur.
