The Main Line-1 (ML-1) project cost has increased by Rs154 billion as the plan has been changed for sixth time, BOL News reported.

According to the details, the National Assembly on September 30, 2019 told that the ML-1 project cost is $ 8.20 billion.

However, the new figures show that it will now be completed in $ 9.24 billion.

An 1872 kilometers long railway line will be constructed from Karachi to Peshawar under the ML-1 project which is expected to be started soon.

It has been learnt that 43 percent of the first package will be spent on the Rawalpindi section.

The Pakistan Railways spokesperson told that the cost has surged due to inflation.
