Pakistan FM lauds Turkish measures taken tackle Coronavirus

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi  Pakistan FM lauded the efforts of Turkish government to cope with novel coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Radio Pakistan reported that in a telephonic conversation with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Pakistan FM also discussed matters pertaining to anti-Coronavirus measures at national and global level.

The Turkish Foreign Minister  Mevlut Cavusoglu assured of all possible cooperation and support to Pakistani nationals residing in Turkey.

It should be noted that Turkey introduced additional restrictions to keep people at home and contain the coronavirus outbreak as the number of confirmed cases mounted rapidly and spread throughout the country.

The government also pledged to ramp up diagnostic testing, production of ventilators and efforts to find a vaccine.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said Tuesday that drugs were delivered via air ambulances to 40 cities across Turkey, according to state-run Anadolu Agency.

Turkey has so far recorded 1,529 cases of the coronavirus, with 37 fatalities.

Turkey distributed a new drug from China to 40 cities today that promises to reduce the treatment of the disease to just four days but has not disclosed the name of the medicine.

Turkish defense firms are mass producing ventilators, and the government has hired an additional 32,000 health care workers to cope with the influx of patients. The Health Ministry also said China had delivered 50,000 rapid coronavirus detection kits, and another batch of 300,000 were expected by Thursday.

Fearing the virus could spread in its prisons, Turkey is also mulling legislation that would free some of its 300,000 detainees.
