Sheikh Rasheed indicates suspension of 20 more trains amid COVID 19

Federal Minister Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said on Thursday that ministry may suspend twenty more trains in order to curb the spread of deadly coronavirus.

Addressing Press Conference in the federal capital Islamabad, the minister said Railway passengers are being screened.

The Prime Minister is fully aware of the situation.He said that the cleaning systems have been improved at all railway stations.

Sheikh Rasheed also said that from 22nd March 12 operation of 12 trains will be suspended.However, a meeting is also scheduled on 25th March, that will review the plan to suspend 20 more trains.

Earlier Pakistan Railways announces to temporarily suspend operations of 12 trains amid Coronavirus fears.Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed said earlier that the eight trains will be discontinued from 25th March. He said the decision has been taken on the Sindh Government’s request.The federal minister clarified that the financial situation of the company is not good enough to refund money to the passengers; however, alternate arrangements will be made for them.
