The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday conducted a suo-motu case hearing regarding measures taken by the government to curb the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic across Pakistan.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed lashed out at the federal government about the government’s performance in handling the deadly coronavirus situation.

A five-member bench under CJP Justice Gulzar Ahmed conducted the hearing.

The top judge remarked that the government had not done anything at this point.

“There is an army of ministers and advisers in place but there is no work being done,” said CJP Ahmed.

He added that “corrupt people” have been kept as advisers in the government.

During the hearing, Justice Ahmed also questioned the credentials of the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza.

Note that the score of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Islamabad Capital Territory surge by 12 to 131 here on Monday.

The rise in the cases in ICT takes the number of confirmed cases across the country to 5,374 with total 94 deaths.
