Pakistan Railway facing loss of 1 bn per week: Sheikh Rashid

Federal minister of railway, Sheikh Rasheed said that the railways workshop will be closed till the mid of this month.

According to the details, Mughalpura railways workshop has been closed till 12th of April to combat coronavirus outbreak.

Sheikh Rashid said while addressing a news conference in the capital that the salaries of the railways employees will be provided on time,

He also said the workers above fifty years of age at Carriage and Risalpur factories may also go on leave amid COVID-19.

The Minister said Pakistan Railways is facing a loss of PKR 1 billion rupees per week.

Imran Khan is free from corruption: Sheikh Rasheed

Earlier on March 24, Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has said on Tuesday that the decision regarding suspension of rail service will be taken after consulting Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

In a statement, the minister said that trains cannot stopped on their ways.

He further complained over not taking him into confidence ahead of imposing the lockdown in the country.

He said that Pakistan Railways earned from passengers to pay the salaries of railway staff and ,middle and poor class used railways as effective tool of transportation.
