On Friday (today) Sindh has entered in to 40th day of lockdown due to the novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19 outbreak in the province.

Normal life remains paralyzed, public transport remained suspended, traffic on the roads thin, and businesses closed on 40th day of lockdown. A strict lockdown will be observed across the province between 12pm and 3pm to enforce a restriction on congregational prayers amid the virus lockdown. Essential services will also be closed during the time.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases across the country rose to 16,817 on Friday after new infections were confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad Capital Territory.

According to the national dashboard tracking the spread of the virus, 30 new cases were reported from Islamabad in the past day, taking the total number of virus cases in the area to 343.

Earlier The spokesperson of Sindh said, the lockdown will be implemented till Eid in the province to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. According to the details, the previous orders regarding the lockdown by the provincial government are for the whole of Ramadan.

The spokesperson has also cleared that the lockdown will be fully implemented by the end of Ramadan. Nasir Hussain Shah said, there is no truth in the rumors regarding end of lockdown by Sindh government. Only consultation was held today about easing of lockdown.

He further informed that the public will be informed regarding any step of  the lockdown.

On the other hand The United Kingdom (UK) charter flights from Karachi and Islamabad took hundreds of British nationals home today. At least 300 British citizens were on board the charter flight back to the UK.
