Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted protective bail to former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in an illegal appointment case.

On Tuesday Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted protective bail to former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a reference pertaining to the illegal appointment of Managing Director Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

IHC provided three weeks protective bail to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking protective bail.

Former PM Shahid Khaqan in his bail plea stated that NAB Karachi had issued arrest warrants for him, while he is in Islamabad and cannot appear before the accountability court, Karachi, due to lockdown. He requested IHC to grant him pre-arrest bail in NAB case till May 12.

The Accountability Court, Karachi had issued non-bailable warrant for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a reference pertaining to illegal appointment of PSO Managing Director.

NAB had filed second reference against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the illegal appoint of Imranul Haq as PSO Managing Director in a Karachi Accountability Court.

Shahid khaqan Abbasi was released from jail on February 26 after being in NAB custody since his arrest in July 2019.

Earlier Shahid khaqan Abbasi said NAB a terrorist organisation.

Calling the bureau a “political engineering factory”, he said former chief justices have also questioned its practices. That is why we must end this institution and send these people packing, he said.

There are six stakeholders influencing decision making in Pakistan, said the former premier. If you don’t make them sit at the same table, the country wont be able to run, he said.

Abbasi denied having any conflicts with the PML-N. I am a member of the party and have been a prime minister from this party, he said.
