President says media should educate people about various social issues

President Dr Arif Alvi has on Thursday urged the media to play its role in promoting nation-building and societal values.

While talking to Information Minister Shibli Faraz and Special Assistant on Information & Broadcasting Asim Saleem Bajwa, he said that media has a greater contribution in creating awareness among the people and it needs to focus on educating the people about various social issues like health, education and particularly women’s rights to inheritance

Regarding social media, he said that it is a harbinger of change and needs to be used positively for promoting the national spirit and harmony in society.

Earlier in a day, in his tweets in connection with Youm-e-Takbeer, Information minister Shibli Faraz said it was on this day that the country got the distinction of becoming the first nuclear power of the Islamic world.

He said the national dignity and security is supreme for us and the nation is united for the defence and development of the country.

He said the PML-N leadership has remained loyal only to the wealth, not the homeland. Avenfield and other properties are a clear manifestation of it.
