Sindh High Court SHC on Tuesday granted bail to former prime minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in illegal recruitment case.

As per details, Hearing on bail plea of ​​former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former Secretary Petroleum Arshad Mirza,  Sindh High Court granted bail to them in a reference which accuses him of misuse of power and illegal recruitment.

A two member bench presided by Chief Justice of Sindh High Court will hear the plea. Court granted bail to former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Arshad Mirza against the surety bonds of Rs 5 lacs each. The court also restrained NAB officials from arresting former prime ministers Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Arshad Mirza.

Earlier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday appeared before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in liquefied natural gas (LNG) gas.

The combined investigation team has handed over the questionnaire related to supplementary reference to the PML-N leader.

While addressing media Abbasi said Accountability must be in accordance with the law. Abbasi said he was happy that for the first time, question regarding tax has been asked.

LNG Case

Former prime minister, Miftah Ismail, ex-PSO MD Imranul Haq and others are facing charges of corruption over awarding a LNG import contract allegedly at exorbitant rates in 2015, which caused a big loss to the national exchequer. In June 2018, the NAB approved inquiry against former premier Nawaz Sharif and Abbasi, who was the former minister for petroleum and natural resources at that time, in granting contract of LNG terminal for 15 years to their ‘favourite’ company. This contract had allegedly caused a loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer. In January, the NAB interrogated former finance minister Miftah Ismail in the same case.
