Total precautions taken while operating passenger trains

Federal Minister of Railways Shaikh Rashid said on Wednesday total precautions being taken while operating passenger trains ahead of Eid ul Fitr.

Addressing media in Rawalpindi, Federal Minister of Railways Shaikh Rashid said standard of procedures being strictly followed to curb the spread of coronavirus, special attention drawn towards to clean the trains. Shaikh Rashid said executive board meeting will be held tomorrow. Many of the passengers are not aware of how to book tickets online. The Ministry is committed to receive train bookings online.

Shaikh Rashid thanked Sindh Government for not objecting about resuming train operations. The Railways Minister also predicted that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will open many inquiries till 31st May.

On the other hand Pakistan Railways has partially resumed train operations with strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Pakistan Railways started limited train operation across the country from Wednesday with 15 up and 15 down trains facilitating passengers during Eid-ul-Fitr.  Subak Kharam was the first train from Lahore to depart for Rawalpindi at 06:30 AM today and Pakistan Express from Rawalpindi to Karachi. Railcar left for Lahore from Rawalpindi. Train operation from Karachi was resumed by Awam Express which departed for Peshawar at 10 AM.
