Authorities to seal several areas of Karachi amid COVID-19

District Health Officer has written a letter to the concerned authorities on Tuesday regarding to seal parts of 16 union councils in Karachi’s West zone over the novel coronavirus outbreak.

According to the letter, 34 coronavirus cases have been reported in Gadap Town, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Khuda Ki Basti whereas UC 6 Surjani Sector has 37 patients.

20 virus carriers are under treatment in Kemari UC 1 and Saeedabad, 32 in Sultanabad’s UC, 37 in Baldia Town and Islamnagar, 134 in Saeedabad UC 5, 27 in UC 6 Mujahid Colony and 149 patients have been reported in Site Metroville Town.

Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad shared that the list of areas to be placed under a smart lockdown has been finalised.

However, the final list will be approved by the commissioner said the DC, adding that the lockdown will be imposed after being approved by the Sindh government.

On the other hand Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Karachi today on his two-day official visit to Sindh to discuss various issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic with political stakeholders of the province.

The premier will inspect the mobile hospital set up for coronavirus patients at the Governor’s House. He will also meet provincial lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and coalition parties Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan and the Grand Democratic Alliance.
