Karachi witnessing prolonged blackouts due to frequent load-shedding

While on one hand , where the novel coronavirus is gripping the Karachi city, unannounced load-shedding on the other hand is making people suffer more.

Power outages are being witnessed for 8 to 12 hours in residential areas of Karachi while it is 4 to 8 hours in industrial areas.

The gap between demand and supply of electricity in Karachi has reached 700 MW and according to various reports power has been suspended from night of localities North Karachi, Orangi Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Nazimabad.

K Electric has said that power supply suspended due to cable and PMT fault.

The company further said that the load shedding will continue till the supply of furnace oil and gas.

It may be recalled that the data released by K-Electric two days ago said that the gap between the demand and supply of electricity in Karachi city has reached 600 MW.

Power was limited to 2200 MW by K Electric to justify the shortage of furnace oil.

Due to reduction in power generation, load shedding carried out in residential areas of Karachi for 8 to 12 hours.
