The death toll from the building apartment building collapse in Khadda Market in Lyari reached 20 on Wednesday.

According to details, while rescue operations still underway, another dead body of a woman retrieved, sent to hospital for medico legal formalities.

Rescue efforts continued late into the night, with the cooperation of officials from Pakistan Army’s engineering corps.
Army officials also used sniffer dogs to try to find those trapped under the rubble, while the police and Rangers officials cordoned off the clogged area.

The rubble is being discarded at the dumping site, with officials proceeding cautiously so as to not harm any of the affected who remain to be found.

The five-storey building collapsed in Kalri area of Lyari on Sunday night leaving its residents stuck under the debris.

Speaking on the occasion, the Rangers DG said that those affected by the collapse had their complete support during these hard times and lauded the law enforcement personnel and rescue workers for their all-out efforts to help the victims.
