SC expresses outrage over delayed action against threats to Justice Isa

The Supreme Court expressed outrage over the responsibility of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The agency was tasked with investigating threats against Justice Qazi Faez Isa and the judiciary in a viral video.

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the case as he took notice of the video clip that contained offensive language against Justice Isa’s case.

The attorney general informed the court in today’s hearing that Justice Isa’s wife had filed a petition to the police and the issue has been forwarded to FIA.

Chief Justice said, “The FIA is doing nothing. It has other matters of judges as well (under scrutiny),” the agency has “not produced results in any matter [so far]”.

Justice Aijaz-ul-Ahsan said that a state institution has been threatened and a judge has been called offensively in the video clip.

He asked, “Why did the state machinery take action with delay?”

The attorney general replied that FIA has begun taken action under the Electronic Crime Act.

Note that a man named as Agha Iftikhar-ud-Din Mirza was seen threatening Justice Isa. The court has summoned him in the next hearing.
