13 killed in roof collapse incidents after heavy rain lashed Punjab

At least 13 people were killed in separate roof collapse incidents in parts of Punjab on Tuesday.

Seven people, including five children, were killed when three roofs collapsed in Tandlianwala. Heavy rain in the district weakened the roofs.

Two other people were injured in the accident and were taken to a hospital in Faisalabad city.

Heavy rain in Faisalabad city caused the roof of a house on Abbaspur Road to collapse, killing two children and an adult.

Four other people were also hurt in the accident and were taken to Civil Hospital. The children were nine and 17 years old.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to the near hospitals.

Earlier, Monsoon rains wreaked havoc in various parts of the country. Fourteen people were injured after roofs collapsed in Pindi Bhattian and Renala Khurd, while the rain had caused flooding in several houses.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents are penetrating in upper and central parts of the country.

The Met Office said rain and wind-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, eastern Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while dust-storm is also expected in upper Sindh during next 24 hours.
