The federal government has decided to give only three holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha in wake of the ongoing pandemic.

Eid-ul-Adha is likely to take place on Friday, July 31, and in view of the situation, the government has decided not to grant additional holidays to the public to prevent unnecessary travel.

As there is already a holiday on Saturday and Sunday, so only Friday will be given as an additional holiday.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the nation to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with simplicity, strictly observing standard operating procedures (SOPs) against coronavirus.

Speaking to the media after inaugurating Isolation Hospital and Infectious Treatment Center in the capital, the prime minister urged that people should not be carless this Eid as they did on Eidul Fitr, which, according to him, lead to spike in the number of cases, piling pressure on hospitals and healthcare workers.

“Eid is coming, we should not do what we did the previous Eid,” the prime minister emphasized, adding the country saw a surge in coronavirus cases following Eidul Fitr as the disease peaked.
