Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub has said that there is no solution to the load shedding in Karachi for two years because the power transmission system cannot bear the extra load.

Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that the federal government was ready to provide more power to Karachi but K Electric did not have a system to receive additional power.

The federal minister told the assembly that K Electric had promised to build a new system by 2022. Until then, the surplus power cannot be added to the electric system.

He said that the federal government is providing additional gas, additional electricity, and additional furnace oil to K electric.

Karachi Electric Company says that repair work in the affected areas is being delayed due to the accumulation of rain water.

After the rains, many streets of Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Surjani, North Karachi, Nazimabad and, Saddar flooded.

Moreover, after the improvement in the weather in the city, the demand for electricity has come down from 3,000 to 2,800 MW.

Despite the gap between the demand and supply of electricity being 200 MW, the power supply situation has not improved.
