Thatta Water Corruption Case: Zardari challenges indictment

Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari filed, on Thursday; a petition in accountability court challenging Thatta water supply corruption reference against him.

According to the details, Zardari’s lawyer Farouk H Naek filed the petition against the reference requesting the court to stop indictment proceedings against the former president in Thatta water supply reference.

Earlier it was reported that Islamabad Accountability Court will indict former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and others over wrongdoings in the Thatta Water Supply Scheme on August 4.

Islamabad AC judge directed all accused named in the reference to appear in court on Aug 4 for indictment.

According to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the instant case pertains to illegal award of a contract by Special Initiative Department for water supply scheme, Thatta to a private contractor, Harish & Co.

In Dec 2019, Asif Ali  Zardari was released after being granted bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Dec 11, last year, on medical grounds.
