Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Thursday to launch Ehsaas Nashonuma Programme for pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as minor children facing stunted growth due to malnourishment.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar has said that Ehsaas Nashonuma program will be launched in the nine districts of the country today.

Ehsaas Nashonuma program aims at preventing stunting in children.

Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad Dr Sania Nishtar said the World Food Programme is the implementing partner of Ehsaas for this programme.

She said the families eligible for Ehsaas cash programme will be entitled to benefit from Nashonuma programme.

Under the programme pregnant and breastfeeding women will be provided special nutritious food, Dr Sania added.

The female children in Nashonuma centres would be provided with a three-month stipend of Rs 2,000 each while the male children would be provided with a three-month stipend of Rs 1,500 each, she said.

The Special Assistant said children under the age of two years will also be able to obtain money after every three months and 1500 rupees for a boy and 2000 rupees for a girl will be provided to deserving families and five hundred rupees will also be given as fare for travelling.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan will inaugurate the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project today at 3 pm.

The BRT project, the flagship project of the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, will be launched today.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Defence Minister Pervez Khattak are also expected to be at the launching ceremony.
