Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the role of think tanks is essential to understand the diplomatic challenges in view of the rapidly changing global scenario in the context of Coronavirus.

According to details, a meeting of researchers of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad was held under the chairmanship of the Foreign Minister in which he said that the role of think tanks was essential for understanding the diplomatic challenges.

The Foreign Minister said that think tanks need to enhance their engagement with think tanks in ASEAN, SAARC and other regional forums.

On the other hand, a delegation of SAARC, Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on the Foreign Minister.

In the meeting, the Foreign Minister said that promotion of trade relations with SAARC countries is a top priority but unfortunately the volume of bilateral trade between SAARC countries is very low.

The Foreign Minister said that the promotion of economic cooperation in SAARC countries would help reduce poverty.
