“There is only political solution to the Afghan conflict”

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that it is an effort of Pakistan that Intra Afghan dialogue immediately moves forward.

According to the details, in a statement today (Thursday), Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi described his recent meeting with the Afghan Taliban in Islamabad very useful.

He said there was consensus in the meeting that there is only political solution to the Afghan conflict which is possible only dialogue.

The Foreign Minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s stance on political solution is now also being acknowledged by the US, Russia, China and important countries of the region.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan invited Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan Dr Abdullah Abdullah to visit Pakistan soon.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had a telephone conversation with Dr Abdullah Abdullah in which the two leaders discussed the Afghan peace process while Pak-Afghan bilateral relations were also discussed during the talks.

Prime Minister expressed his determination to further strengthen Pak-Afghan relations while emphasizing the need to move the Afghan peace process forward and enhance the relations between the two countries.

During the talks with the Chairman National Council for Reconciliation, Dr Abdullah Abdullah, Imran Khan also highlighted Pakistan’s positive role in the Afghan peace process and said that Pakistan was looking forward to intramural talks soon.

In addition to this Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that there is no military solution to the Afghan conflict while the Afghan conflict is nothing but a political settlement.
