At least five people were injured in Karachi after a stray dog bit them near the Teen Talwar monument in the Clifton area of the city.

According to the details, the injured included two children, they were immediately shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment

Spokesperson and Executive Director Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College, Dr. Seemi Jamali, said that all injured persons were given first aid and emergency treatment.

The wounded persons have been provided anti-rabies vaccines, she added.

Earlier in August this year, a two-year child sustained severe wounds on his face after a stray dog bit him in the Gulzar Colony area of the city.

The father of the injured child narrated the entire incident saying that a stray dog attacked his child a day back, causing severe injuries on his face.

In March this year, the Sindh High Court took notice of dog-bite incidents in the province, with the majority of cases being reported in Umerkot, and directed the local government secretary and the task force chairman to submit reports, stating that what efforts are being made to provide medical treatment to the victims.

Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar expressed concerns about media reports with regard to dog-bite incidents and the shortage of vaccination in government hospitals.

The court directed the local government secretary and the task force chairman to immediately inquire about the incidents and submit the report as to what efforts were being made to provide medical treatment to the victims.
