Foreign Minister Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that the establishment of a separate South Punjab province is a major milestone.

Taking to his official twitter handle, Shah Mahmood Qureshi wrote:

“After years of struggle & determination by the people of South Punjab, we have achieved a major milestone in the establishment of a separate South Punjab province. We, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf government announce posting of high-level bureaucrats to South Punjab for a fully functional secretariat.”

Shah Mahmood Qureshi went on to say that:

This achievement is testament to our commitment to fulfil our promise to the people of Pakistan. I congratulate the people of Southern Punjab and I thank my Prime Minister Imran Khan for his vision and support.

Earlier on Monday, the Punjab government announced the posting of 10 Secretaries for the South Punjab Secretariat in a major development towards empowering the people of southern Punjab.

The government has created one post of Grade-21 officer, 21 posts each in grade-20 and grade-19 and 34 posts in grade-18.

According to the notification, Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Commissioner Saqib Ali Ateel, a BS-20 officer, had been transferred and posted as the agriculture department secretary at the South Punjab Secretariat.
